Who We Are
At Refugee REACH we have personally witnessed the massive health disparities facing refugees. A shortage of medical research and a focus on temporary solutions contributes to poor health outcomes in refugees. Refugee REACH’s mission is to transform refugee health outcomes through refugee-led research, systems change, and community capacity building.

Mentorship
Our mentorship of refugee researchers bolsters their careers, builds research capacity, and most importantly, gives refugees the agency to shape their own health outcomes.

We focus on research that understands challenges, seeks solutions, and creates a globally responsive framework to improve refugee health.
Capacity Building
We provide the structure and resources needed to foster innovation, collaboration, and paradigm shift in refugee health.
Our Story
There are over 42 million refugees and 117 million forcibly displaced people worldwide. Our historical initiative, the Refugee and Asylum seeker Health Initiative (RAHI), was founded by Dr. Fatima Karaki in 2016 with a mission to improve refugee health by fostering research in forcibly displaced populations globally.

As RAHI evolved beyond academia, the independent nonprofit organization Refugee Research Equity and Collaboration in Health (Refugee REACH) was established in 2024.
